Rooting Samsung Galaxy Y and Mini

Definition of rooting(click here)

Here's how to root your galaxy Y. First download this>>>> update-zip file for rooting.

I explain rooting is like being an administrator on your account. When you first buy
your SGY/SGMini it's like your on the guest account coz it's not yet rooted. When you rooted it, you will become the Administrator of your device meaning, you can do system tweaks, and upgrade its performance etc. etc. Sorry for my bad English. I'm a CS, not an English Major. Lol >:D

After downloading the "update.zip" file, copy it to your SD card's root folder(on the main not inside any folders).

After copying, turn off your phone. :) Yeah. turn it off. When your phone finally shut down, press the Volume-up key + Home key + Power key/Lock key. You're now on your phone's safe mode.

There will be foure options:
Reboot System now
Apply Update from SD card
Wipe data/factory Settings
Wipe Cache Partition

When in safe mode, you can't use your touch screen. You will use the volume-up key to move the selector upward and the volume-down key to move the selector downward. Use the Home-Key for selecting. :)

Select the "Apply Update from SD card" then select the file "update.zip"

Then you'll see "Install from SD Card complete" then select the "reboot system now" to reboot your SGY then.. Tatatatata TADA! your phone is now rooted. >:D the proof will be the "super user app"

Tested on gingerbread 2.3.5

Important Note: I will not be accountable for any loss/damage to your device.
Do it at your own risk. I tried and tested it myself. Rooting voids your warranty

How to unroot SAMSUNG GALAXY Y?

Do the same like above. but when applying an update from your SD card, select the update-unroot-zip(<----click to download) then reboot system. There! Your device is now unrooted, and gained it's warranty back. :)

Rooting Galaxy Mini:

Just like the steps above. :D but here's the file for rooting: update123-zip after downloading it, rename it to "update.zip" to be formal. Haha. :)
